The title of this year’s event, Rise Up, is a call for innovation and collaboration within the library community. In a rapidly changing society, it is vital to maintain a continuous generation of new ideas and new voices in order to maintain the relevance of library institutions. Public, academic, school and special libraries will all be represented at the ILA Annual Conference. This event offers a distinct opportunity for collaboration, innovation and information about the future of library technology in an era of digital advancement. As new technology continues to appear on the global stage, it is important that the library community can continue to smoothly transition into the digital age.
This year’s ILA Annual Conference, the largest state library exposition in the Midwest, will be centered around bringing a wave of innovation to the library community. The keynote speaker, Verna Myers, is known for her compelling message of finding unconventional solutions to solve problems. Her history as a lawyer, author and entrepreneur has cemented her mission to empower others to function at their highest levels of productivity and innovation. Libraries have been a staple within communities for centuries, and it is important that they are able to stay relevant despite changing technology and culture.
Companies in attendance
This conference will provide a unique opportunity to learn about and hear from a wide variety of companies and organizations that do work relating to books, documents, information archives and digital software. You will be able to spot notable names like Scholastic Library Publishing and Oxford University Press at their respective booths on the exhibit floor. There will be plenty of time for attendees to find out more about the companies in attendance during the three days of designated exhibit time over the course of the conference.
Microfilm scanning and digital information
Libraries have always been a prominent resource for documents, archives, films and printed information, but microfilm scanning allows these documents to be preserved digitally. While physical documents are susceptible to deterioration over time or due to environmental circumstances, a digital rendering of such documents can be preserved and referenced for years to come. Microfilm Equipment and Supplies Inc. has been in the business of digitally archiving valuable information for decades. We offer peace of mind to our clients who are looking for assurance that their most valued documents will be preserved. This type of technology is essential to the advancement of library technology and will serve as a notable addition to the innovations featured at the ILA Annual Conference.
