This April, Montgomery Alabama will be home to the 2017 Alabama Library Association Annual Convention. This event will be held at the Renaissance Montgomery Hotel & Spa at the
Convention Center from April 18-21, and will offer a schedule filled with talks from renowned speakers, book signings with popular authors and time to network with a variety of businesses and organizations during open exhibit times. If you plan on attending this year’s conference, make sure to stop by booth 113, where Microfilm Equipment and Supplies Inc. will be exhibiting our expert knowledge of microfiche scanning and microfilm readers.
A Capital Idea!
With a wide array of topics and ideas to be shared over the course of the event, this year’s ALLA Annual Convention promises to be anything but conventional. With daily topics ranging from digital preservations for Alabama libraries to digital magazines in academia, the week promises to be one of exciting innovation for librarians, authors, information archivists and community members at large. Attendees will be able to choose from a variety of concurrent sessions that will each cover a unique topic designed to engage discussion and provoke thought about the next steps for the library community in Alabama.
Speakers in attendance
At the ALLA Annual Convention, you can sit in on talks from compelling speakers on a wide range of topics. The opening session will feature Steve Berry, a professor and former lawyer who has become well known as a New York Times bestselling author for his literary accomplishments. The presidential program will be held by Jim Neal, best known for his prominent role in American and international library associations. Tayari Jones will be wrapping up the convention during the closing session. This author and winner of the Hurston-Wright Legacy Award for Debut Fiction has graced the literary stage with her one-of-a-kind narratives that have earned her critical praise and a slew of nominations for her work.
The exhibit hall
One of the most exciting portions of any convention is the opportunity to explore the booths featured in the exhibit hall. Those in attendance will have the opportunity to meet with local leaders and library administrators, as well as local and national businesses that bring innovation to library technology. There will be plenty of time to meet, greet and get to know these vendors, including Microfilm Equipment and Supplies Inc., on Wednesday and Thursday during the designated exhibit hall open times.
