Every year we look forward to attending conferences held by various state library associations. These events are excellent opportunities for us to discuss the benefits of microfilm readers with librarians and literature/literacy enthusiasts.
We will be at the following events this year:
Louisiana Library Association annual conference
March 7-9, 2018 in Alexandria, Louisiana
Alexandria lies along the south bank of the Red River, very close to the geographic center of Louisiana. The event is taking place at the Alexandria Riverfront Convention Center and the newly remodeled Holiday Inn right next door over the course of three days. Every year this is a fantastic event in a beautiful spot, and we always enjoy having the opportunity to visit the museums in the area and experience Alexandria’s history and beauty.
The event brings in all types of presenters and guests in the field of library science. We have booth #31 this year and will be bringing along our microfilm readers and examples of microfilm documents for conference attendees to take a look at themselves to see the benefits of the technology firsthand.
Alabama Library Association annual conference
April 10-13 in Florence, Alabama
The four-day annual convention in Florence, Alabama is always a great time, as it brings in a large number of exhibitors and library science specialists. This year’s keynote speakers are Aaron Schmidt and Patti Callahan Henry. Mr. Schmidt is the principal of Influx Library User Experience Consulting and a lecturer at the San Jose School of Library and Information Science, while Ms. Henry is a New York Times bestselling author of a number of books, and has an upcoming historical fiction novel coming out called Becoming Mrs. Lewis. Her books have been published in numerous languages.
We are greatly looking forward to attending the event to engage with learn from librarians and library scientists when we head to Florence, Alabama next month.
Illinois Library Association annual conference
October 9-11 in Peoria, Illinois
We are already gearing up for our next visit to the Illinois Library Association’s annual conference. This is an event that has happened annually since 1896 (with a couple of wartime exceptions), and continues its tradition now more than 120 years later.
We will be moving our exhibit in on the morning of Wednesday, October 10 and be open on the floor from noon to 5 p.m. that day and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. the next day (Thursday, October 11). As always, we will be bringing sample microfilm machines to demonstrate to conference attendees, and look forward to seeing the other innovations in library science and documentation that will be presented by our colleagues and other event attendees.
If you’re going to be attending any of these events or live in the area and would like to see some microfilm machines and discuss their potential applications for your organization in person, we’d love to chat with you at these conferences! Come out and pay us a visit. Contact Microfilm Equipment and Supplies Inc. today for more info.
